The STAROBA Golf Club's regular forays overseas to play golf in Indonesia, Thailand, China etc have enabled some of our distinguished golfers to establish links with similar-minded golfers from these countries. Late last year, STAROBA Golf Club was invited to play against KOBA Tin of Indonesia , in a 3-day tournament on a format quite similar to the Ryder's Cup Competition. KOBA Tin offered to sponsor most of the costs of the tournament including the accomodation and the golfing fees. A joint contribution to the total value of prize money which came to 150 million rupiahs was agreed upon.
Each team was to come up with 18 players, to be played over 3 days in Jakarta.
Half of the STAROBA players came down to Jakarta a day earlier, either on the late afternoon KLM flight or the Malaysian Airlines flight. The other half came in the morning of the 9th February 2011 itself and was picked up at the airport to be directly transfered to Cengkareng Golf Course where the first day game was to be played.
